Craig Boreham

Craig Boreham - Director

Craig Boreham, is a Sydney based writer, director. A graduate the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Craig has directed ten short films, several ads, music clips and has worked extensively in the area of post?production on many projects. Much of Craig's video and film work focuses on themes of sexuality and the politics of desire. His films have been seen in over 150 festival screenings and received numerous awards including “The City of Melbourne Best Short Film Award”, Melbourne Queer Film Festival, and Best Independent Film, Newtown Flicks Festival – Sydney.

His short drama TRANSIENT, premiered at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival and was nominated for the Teddy Award for best short film. Craig was invited to return to Berlin as one of two Australian directors chosen to attend the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2006 with classes and seminars held by industry heavy weights such as Michel Gondry, Charlotte Rampling, Wim Wenders, Christopher Doyle, and Anthony Dod Mantle.

In 2008 a retrospective of Craig's work, CINEMA OF TRUE POISON was presented by Fundacion Triangulo in Madrid.

 

Alice Bell

Alice Bell - Writer

Alice Bell's first feature film Suburban Mayhem was invited to screen at the Cannes Film Festival 2006 (Un Certain Regard section), Toronto FF, and Chicago FF amongst others. Mayhem was released around the world, including the US where it was bought by the Weinstein Group. It was produced by Leah Churchill-Brown and directed by Paul Goldman. Jan Chapman was the executive producer.

Alice is one of the original writers of Channel Ten's police rescue drama, Rush. She has written 8 episodes over all three series. Alice is one of the writers on the ABC's new drama, The Slap, an adaptation of Christos Tsiolkas' best selling novel, which is being produced by Matchbox pictures.

In 2009, Alice completed a 5 month intensive writers workshop at the prestigious Binger Filmlab in Amsterdam on her feature film script Gin & Tonic which was then invited into the Rotterdam Film Festival's Cinemart in January 2009. She is also being mentored to adapt Gin & Tonic to the stage by playwright Andrew Upton.

Alice also directs music videos, her reel includes Silverchair, Missy Higgins, Toni Collette, Jimmy Barnes and Little Birdy (she won an ARIA for Silverchair's 'Straight Lines').

 

Adam Howden

Adam Howden- Director of Photography

Adam’s love of the visual image started at an early age and was formalised with his studies at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in the late 1990’s. A cinematographer, photographer and musician he lives and breathes creativity. With a passion for story Adam has proven himself not only as a cinematographer but also as a storyteller and collaborative filmmaker.
  
 Adam has shot music videos for some of Australia’s best known artists including You Am I, Children Collide, Grinspoon, Kisschasy, The Avalanches and End of Fashion plus TVCs for RACV, Suzuki, Sidchrome, Yarra Trams, MTV, Triple M, Kellogg’s and Short Films for some of Australia’s best emerging directors.
  
 With a growing list of Short Films, TVCs and over 30 music videos to his credit, Adam boasts a proven track record of tackling time and budget restraints capably and creatively.

 

Adrian Chiarella

Adrian Chiarella - Editor

Adrian Chiarella grew up in Sydney before studying at the University of Sydney and the Australian Film Television and Radio School.

Adrian’s career began whilst living in London and working as an assistant editor on various documentaries and independent feature films. He went on to edit a range of music videos and TVCs before returning to Sydney in 2006 to complete an internship with Australian writer-director Baz Luhrmann. This was followed by his employment with Luhrmann’s company, Bazmark Inq, over the following two years. He has since continued to work with Sydney-based filmmakers on short dramas, applying his passion for storytelling to a range of diverse and innovative projects.

Jasmine Christie - Production Designer

Jasmine relocated to Sydney from the Hunter Valley in 2008 after being accepted into the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) to study a Bachelor of Dramatic Art majoring in Design.

Production credits thus far include: Set and Costume Design for new Australian play, Motel (2009) directed by Paige Rattray. The production also toured as part of the Adelaide Fringe Festival in March 2010; Costume Design for Legend as part of the NIDA AFTRS feature film co-production 'Before the Rain'; Production design for music video June, for Triple J Unearthed finalists, Cameras, directed by Paige Rattray; Production Design and Costume design for the short film “Ping” written and directed by Dimitri Ellerginton.

Jasmine is currently designing both Set and Costume for the Dario Fo classic Accidental Death of an Anarchist directed by Darren Gilshenan as part of the 2010 Comedy season and later in the year will also design costume for Lost Illusions, a new work written by Alana Valentine and directed by Iain Sinclair.

Violet marks Jasmine’s introduction into the world of film and having aquired a taste for the screen she is excited as to what the future may have in store.

Charlotte Lane - Production Design

Charlotte grew up building castles out of cardboard with her family in Melbourne and moved to Sydney to study Design at the National Institute of Dramatic Art.

At NIDA, Charlotte designed set and costume for 'Through the Leaves' written by Franz Xaver Kroetz and directed by Netta Yaschin, which travelled to the Adelaide Fringe Festival in March 2010; Production design for 'Violet' and costume design for 'Nicky Two-Tone' as part of the NIDA AFTRS feature film co-production 'Before the Rain'; Video clips for Mz Ann Thropik and Triple J Unearthed finalists Royal Chant. Charlotte is currently designing Shakespeare's 'As You Like It', directed By Ros Horin, and is looking forward to designing Mikhail Bulgakov's 'Flight' later on this year, following an inspiring trip to St Petersberg to work with Russian director Sergei Tcherkasski.

Sarah-Jane McAllan - Costume Design

After studies in counselling, naturopathy and fashion, Sarah-Jane imagined it was high time to begin a career in design, and in 2010 will graduate from the BDA (Design) at NIDA. 2009 credits include: Production design for 'Legend' and costume design for 'Violet' as part of the NIDA AFTRS feature film co-production 'Before the Rain'; Costume design for Harold Pinter's 'One For the Road' directed by Nikola Amanovic; Video clip design on a zero budget for 'It's Not A Secret' by Triple J Unearthed finalists Mind Over Matter; Set and costume design for Alex Cullen's 'Trolley Boys' directed by Michael Dahlstrom. Sarah-Jane is currently designing the set and costumes for Peter Handke's 'The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other' to be directed by Patrick Nolan, and later in the year will design costumes for Timothy Daly's 'Kafka Dances' to be directed by Sam Strong.

Pia Leong - Costume Design

Pia has an advanced diploma in Events and Entertainment Design, and is in her final year of a Bachelor of Dramatic Art at NIDA. She is currently in production for The Hypochondriac and looking forward to co costume designing the opera Passion in Beijing. As well as numerous productions Pia has worked in events in Mumbai and Germany.
